Rambling on twitter last night (By the way, @cmikenike) about how it took a bit of time, but I finally finished the master page template for my comic again.

Because I lost everything.

Yeah, every page, every resource, all of it. Caught a virus, thought I had successfully gotten rid of it and restored all the stuff, but thought "Oh, man, that was close, I haven't backed up in over a month! Better do that now" and proceeded to go ahead without looking all the way down to the actual files of the comic stuff. All the files were gone, but the folders remained, so I just copied it over and went on my way. It was awful realizing that it was all gone.

Anyway, I thought about it, and if I put this template up here, then I can't lose it again, and I can help anyone else who wants to do comics digitally save some time in the beginning. I used the instructions from Freddie E Williams II book The DC Comics Guide to Digitally Drawing Comics, and took the general look from the free flatted template he offers at FreddieArt.com

300dpi
11 x 17
10 x 15 trim size
9 x 13.5 live area
Light blue lines, like all those fancy shmancy comic boards
Perspective path, which I got from the FreddieArt site. It's really great for setting up the perspective, go to his website to learn how to use it.
Commonly used layers (Template layer, text layers for filling in the names of the Penciller, inker, book title, what have you, a script layer with sketch layer, and then 5 panel groups.)

So, yea, knock yourself out, use to your hearts content, and let others know about it.

Thank you so much for uploading this template. It will save my sanity when switching between programs since guidelines in Photoshop like to disappear when I got between it and SAI.

Thanks! Yeah, Freddie's book is definitely worth getting. It's unlike a lot of 'Making Comics' books in that it doesn't really care about if you can draw. It assumes that there are other books to get for that, and this one is so making comics on the pc is more efficient. And, while it shows you how to use what's in Photoshop (Blurs, paths, filters), it does it in a way to accent your drawing, and not disguise it. Certainly worth it.

No hay problema. Espero que sea útil para ti. Gracias por el fav! Lo siento si esto es terriblemente redactado. No sé cuán preciso es Google Translate.
