Welp, Convention #1 is officially checked off!

Really, through all the terror of working my first convention, it was a fantastic time.  I met a bunch of super cool people, hung out with like-minded artists, and had a lot of fun sketching and talking and doing all that.  I guess the turnout was a little low? I don't really know, though, I hadn't gone to the con at all before, but it was cool.  Saw Ted Raimi being followed by a gaggle of goth girls all day Saturday, which is...interesting, if nothing else.

So, feeling like going to conventions is good and a worthwhile experience, now I guess I start looking for more to do, while also maybe shifting my work schedule around, cause missing Friday and Saturday hurts the whole "pay your bills" thing if done too often.

Not going to make it to Roc Con in Rochester, it's just too last minute and I'd have the same shortcomings I had this time; lack of professional printed art, not enough for sale, work that I'm showing off not really displayed in a pleasing manner, and other little things that I just need a bit more time to get in order. Which is another valuable thing learned, this whole set up thing takes a while, prints, merch, the whole thing.  But I'm certainly looking at other cons coming up, I just need to figure out when is a viable date to look for, I want to plan far enough in advance, but not miss out on too many.

Anywho, it was a lot of fun, got to sketch and have fun, and found out that Michaels takes coupons from JoAnn Fabrics, like I needed another reason to lose money in Michaels...

Hi everyone!

So, some news. I've recently been very busy, because for the time being I am working on a new super hero project. I'm not sure I can share a whole lot about it yet, but keep your eyes peeled, ill be sharing tidbits and samples in time

Also, if you happen to be in the central new York area, namely, Verona ny at turning stone casino, I'm going to be set up in artist alley. I'd love to see you, stop by, say hello, ill have prints and merch available, ill be doing sketches, commissions, and ill just generally be trying to be personable and not terrified at the people and the prospect of being set up at my first con, haha!

Other than that, I'm just keeping busy with work and art and tutoring and a billion of projects. So I also may look exhausted, haha woo

Let me explain...

No, there is too much, let me sum up

Around April, I was looking for comic work, like ya do, and I came upon an opportunity to draw, pencils and inks, a short story for a Horror anthology for Midnight Horizons Comics, Found here, titled After Midnight.

I had a lot of fun doing the story, it was different from my usual fare of Superheroes and fantasy. It also means that for the whole time I was doing it, my search history was probably pretty strange, with searches on ships, pagan rituals, tattoos/Sailor Jerry, and a youtube clip of Alien where John Hurt has pretty bad indigestion.

But yes, it was a lot of fun, and working with the author and the publisher was really great.  Last I was told, After Midnight is planned to be published August 6.  Keep an eye out here and on my Tumblr, creativefreedomcomics.tumblr.c… for little peeks into my work on it, and any news further.

ALSO, this September, if you are in the upstate New York area, I will be attending Scare-A-Con in Vernon, I will have prints and potentially copies of the book for sale, and would love to just see people and have sketches and commissions.  More info as I get it.

Until next time,

-Emmis

Hey hey, everyone!
This year, I'm heading to the great, big, great big, New York Comic-Con.  I shall be selling myself and being all professional-y. At least, between fangirling out over John Barrowman, Stan Lee, and JRJR. But a trip to New York isn't cheap, even if I contain myself on buying stuff there.

SO! Time for a series of rapid-fire mini-commissions. Quick turn around times, cause Oct 11 is sneaking up on me pretty quick.

Characters, with minimal, if any, backgrounds

Pencil/sketches: $5
A fast sketch, done in digital pencils, shading, boo-bleeboo.
Like
This Batman: sta.sh/08kpqjyffh3

Inks: $15
Character with a better finish, solid blacks, rendered more.
For Example
My Pathfinder character sta.sh/0xzrlpb8d3v
One of my players D&D characterssta.sh/0zpavww63w0
Or some good ol' Comic heroes sta.sh/07w2fz1oh6j

Paypal only, paid before I start.  Expected turn around should be about a day.  Little less for pencils, especially if I know the character.
And there we have it, the Get-Emmis-Some-Work-So-He-Can-Go-Get-More-Work-drive.

Notes or email are fine, mtouron90@gmail.com

Alternately, pick up a shirt or print cafepress.com/creativefreedomp…
